Architectural Ornamentation
Working from worn-out remnants, drawings and/or photos, Metropolis will re-create, repair or newly construct detailed fabricated sheet metal architectural ornaments to your requirements in galvanized steel, copper, bright zinc and other materials.
Some ornamentation is intended to be painted a ‘tinner's red' and some (or parts of some) are intended to be left bare and allowed to weather naturally. We can create turret tops, gable ornaments, ridge roll cresting, lightning rods and nearly any other ornamental metalwork you desire. Contact us with your ideas and to discuss your project in detail. We can provide references and examples of our work.

The three large ornaments shown here were constructed to replicate the original 1888 design using a partial, rusted-out original ornament (seen to the left) as a pattern. Ridge roll cresting was also fabricated to match the original design including the square topped ridge itself. There are 18 crests in the ridge ornamentation and a mounting bracket that remains invisible when installed was designed for the gable-end mounted finials. Each of the finials is nearly four feet tall and is constructed from 33 individual, hand-crafted pieces.
