This is a custom designed and built two-leaf driveway gate for a client’s ranch. As with all ranches, they must have a name and a brand. The Lazy-G ranch brand is designed into the gate and is clad in copper formed over steel framework. Designed to be uniform from either approach, the gate is fully two-sided and the latch and lock can be equally operated from either side. The ranch brand is clad on both sides and wraps to the center of the leaves for an uninterrupted expression. Everything from the hinges to the latch was specifically designed and built for this project. The entire latch mechanism is hidden inside the top tubes of the gate frame and only the operating handle extends below the frame. When the latch bolt is in the closed position, the lock thimble engages a matched fitting designed into a corner brace. This design virtually eliminates the visual impact of the latch and concentrates the focus on the gate design. The latch mechanism is fabricated entirely from stainless steel so not to damage any paint coatings on the moving parts while also avoiding oxidation, as are the drop pins. The hinges are complete with fittings for grease maintenance. To further protect the longevity of the gate, the framework for the logo is designed and built to allow for drainage, avoiding any buildup of rain or snow. The entire gate is powder-coated in a semi-gloss black highlighting the bright copper work.
